Advancing my skills

Well, it’s official! Saturday morning, I’ll be flying out of Springfield to participate in the LMT Success Group’s Seminars at Sea program, departing Fort Lauderdale on the Allure of the Seas ship on Sunday. I’ll be out of the country from 10/15-10/22 with limited communication.

While on board the ship, I’ll complete nearly 40 hours of continuing education. I’ve selected classes that not only best suit my existing clients’ needs and one that has always piqued my interest – Thai Yoga Massage.

My first class will be on Sunday, focusing on Posture and Pain. Gravity takes a toll on our bodies every day, constantly straining our structure and slowly dragging our body into misalignment. This problem is usually not noticed (or perhaps is even considered to be normal) until some sports activity or physical labor aggravates the problem enough to cause persistent pain.

On Monday and Tuesday, I’ll complete a two-part series on Arthrossage. According to the CDC, one in five adult Americans suffers from arthritis. It is, in fact, the most common type of disability. There are specific manual therapies that are known to be able to address pain and stiffness.

Wednesday and Thursday will be reserved for some downtown and exploration of Cozumel and Costa Maya. Don’t worry, I definitely planning to bring my raincoat!

Classes will resume on Friday and Saturday and I’ll finally receive official training in Thai Yoga Massage. Traditional Thai Massage is a modern expression of a 2500+ year old tradition of Oriental bodywork. Thai massage uses the whole body to treat the whole body. It is more energizing and can be more rigorous than classic forms of massage, but at the same time the treatment can be quite mediative.

Upon my return, I’ll begin to put my new skills immediately into practice and then in November, I’ll begin my training in Reiki with local Reiki Master, Marciana Finney. Reiki (pronounced Ray-key) is a Japanese modality based on the idea that energy can be transmitted from person to person by attuned practitioners. It is currently used in over 800 hospitals around the world. Energy modalities like Reiki, Quantum Touch, Craniosacral Therapy, Reflexology, Tai Chi, Qi Gong are becoming an integrated part of the healing process.

This is the perfect launch into my return to full time practice and I appreciate each and every one of you who has been encouraging me to return to my calling. I’ll return to the office the week of October 23 and I’m currently booked solid that week. If you’re looking to get scheduled soon, please hop on my online scheduler and find a spot the week of October 30.

Looking forward to seeing you all soon!

All my best,
Christy
