In about three weeks, we’ll be celebrating summer, The Seed style! Local music, local gardens, drums and some cool cats from the Jersey Shore, all at the Outland Ballroom for the finest collection of roots, reggae and folk music to play in Springfield all in one night at the Summer Bash Benefit on July 30th.
Local volunteer project directed by Aubree Taylor, the 1000 Gardens Project, started in 2009 and yielded over 3,500 gardens with a goal of only 1,000. The next goal is 10,000 gardens and to continue raising awareness for local food through the development of community gardens. You can visit the first community garden at The Kitchen, located one block south of commercial on Jefferson Ave. This garden is feeding clients of the Kitchen Free Medical Clinic and the surrounding community.
There will be an ongoing raffle the night of the Summer Bash Benefit and YOUR generous donations will support this project. We are looking for LOCAL businesses to donate items to be raffled at the event and ALL proceeds from raffle ticket sales will be used to purchase supplies to support The Kitchen Community Garden, specifically.
